Bye Bye Bye...Brintey

By 2004 Britney was on a downward trend, after marrying her childhood friend in vegas, and being seen with no panties on at various night clubs, it was no shock to the world when Britney married Kevin Federline. Spears announced on her website she was taking a break, and going to concentrate on starting a family. Spears released Greatest Hits: My Prerogative. The world thought Britney had settled in peace. Spears announced that she was pregnant in 2005, and again in 2006. She posed nude in Harper’s Bazaar on her first sons, Preston’s, first birthday. Britney was seen driving around with her child in her lap, unrestrained, on the front seat of the car. The world had thought Britney was trying to start a family, but it seemed all she wanted was attention. In a interview with David Letterman, she said “When they (paparazzi) come at me, it’s a very scary thing… all I want to do is get out of the car and get my baby home.” By the end of 2006 Spears let her husband know she wanted a divorce by texting him, the divorce was finalized within two months. In 2007 Britney had been in and out of two rehabs within 24 hours (leaving both times), almost dropped her baby, shaved her head, attacked a paparazzi car with her umbrella, and lost custody of her kids.

Britney was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in early 2008, after loosing custody of her children.  Before the court hearing, Britney collapsed at a local nightclub. A friend was able to add some comments on it:

Britney is terrified of this, which is why she is always late or doesn't show," the source said. "She totally loses it, and with the depo and the media circus yesterday, she just couldn't handle it," the source added, referring to Spears' deposition in her custody battle on Thursday.

Today, although Britney is trying to make a comeback, we have to ask ourselves: who is to blame? Is it her pushy mother that forced her into show business at such an early age? Was it Justin who left her with the song “Cry Me a River?” Or was it us, the media as a whole, who feeds of the lived of the rich and famous. Millions of copies are sold of Us Weekly, Star, People, and Inside Magazine. The cross between famous and ‘normal’ has lessened over the years as reality TV was introduced, and the fact that being a sluty heiress lands you a shot at fame. Thirty years ago, it took some talent to be famous. Now, all it takes is a lot of money and a crazy attitude. Some would say Britney Spears was a talented young singer, but now she is nothing better than Paris Hilton. If our media is constantly demanding more trash, more rich scum. That is what the starts are going to give us.

Britney Spears turned from pop princess into a natural disaster. People say its like a car accident, you just can’t look away. We are the ones to blame. Every magazine that tells young girls they have to look like a Barbie, and (according to Cosmopolitan Magazine) learn how to please their man. The pressure for women growing up in our culture is stronger that a hurricane. Eating disorders, depression, and suicide with young teenage girls have gone up tremendously over the past decade. What does this have to do with Britney? She is a refection of our youth culture, and what it is becoming. You don’t have to have talent or brains to strive in the media’s eyes, just get rich, skinny, and flash a bunch of photographers on your way to a nightclub. This is the message we are sending our future leaders of America. So now ask yourself this: would you want Britney running your country?
